The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce recently reported at its 2018 Economic Forecast event that Charleston’s growth spurt won’t slow down anytime soon.  The Beach Company was pleased to attend the 27th annual economic outlook conference recently, where the Chamber presented a promising outlook for the Holy City.

Within the 2018 Economic Forecast, The Economic Outlook Board noted a continued increase in Charleston’s job and population growth, with a 22k projected increase in total employment in the next two years. Additionally, the board predicted Charleston will continue attracting top industries to the area, with a focus on the advanced manufacturing, logistics and transportation, and IT sectors.

Overall, the study predicted a positive economic run for the U.S. over the next 18 to 24 months, with national, state and local economies all expected to rise along with national GDP growth, which is projected to reach some of the strongest rates in years.

Diversity was also a key topic at the event and deemed a crucial ingredient for Charleston’s future success. Based on the Chamber’s findings, successful recruitment and retention will hinge on local businesses’ ability to effectively manage the full nexus of “diversity” issues.
