Charleston BAR Approves
On February 8, the Charleston Board of Architectural Review (BAR) unanimously approved The Beach Company’s preliminary review application for the Sergeant Jasper property.
During the meeting, the BAR reviewed the project’s design details, materials, and finishes. The Preliminary Review phase defines the level of quality of construction and the relationship of the buildings’ components to surrounding buildings and to one another.
The plans were well-received by City Planning Staff and the Board of Architectural Review. BAR member Jay White said, “I would vouch for the fact that if this is executed to the degree that has been discussed, that the city will be very proud of these materials. This appears to be an exceptionally stout structure.”

About the Plan
The Jasper will be a majestic twelve-story, mixed-use building positioned on over four acres at the entry to Charleston’s historic district within walking distance of all that Charleston has to offer. It will feature unmatched waterfront and peninsula views. The rooftop amenities will offer striking 360-degree vistas of the peninsula, including Colonial Lake, downtown Charleston, the Ashley River and the Ravenel Bridge.
