J.C. Long and his wife Alberta


On April 21, The Beach Company’s founder, J.C. Long, and his wife Alberta were celebrated at the 2017 Wall of Honor Gala hosted by the College of Charleston School of Business. Following a keynote speech by Anita Zucker, the dean of the School of Business recognized J.C. and Alberta Long for their lasting and life-changing impact on the College of Charleston School of Business. The event was attended by business professionals, esteemed faculty at the college and noted guests.

Family members Mary Ellen Long Way and Joyce Long Darby accepted the award on behalf of J.C. and Alberta Long, who donated the building now known as the J.C. Long building to the School of Business. The Longs join past recipients on the prestigious Wall of Honor in the College’s Beatty Center. Fellow 2017 honorees include Rebecca Herring and Stan and Ellen Schottland.
