Sergeant Jasper Demolition Continues

The demolition of the 17-story Sergeant Jasper building is in its final stages on the Charleston peninsula, bringing The Beach Company closer to breaking ground on its new mixed-use waterfront property. The demolition process began in November 2017, and crews are still hard at work today to strategically dismantle the structure without using explosives. While this demolition process is more costly and lengthy – requiring more labor and equipment – The Beach Company chose this method to minimize the impact on the surrounding neighborhoods.

In a recent interview with Live 5 News, City of Charleston Director of Planning Jacob Linsey said that The Beach Company’s approach to demolishing the Sergeant Jasper building piece by piece is safer and less disruptive than the alternative.

This summer, The Beach Company will break ground on The Jasper, a large, multi-use development that will include ground-floor retail spaces totaling 25,000-square-feet, plus 75,000-square-feet of office space and 222 residential units. Ideally situated in Charleston’s vibrant Harleston Village community, the Jasper will be a jewel in the City’s architectural crown and a place where people can live, work, play and enjoy themselves.

When are residential units becoming available to rent or purchase? Is there a waiting list ?
