Rendering of the new Summer Wind Apartments in Dorchester County

An affiliate of The Beach Company has begun construction on Summer Wind, a new 267 unit, Class A multifamily community in the rapidly expanding Summerville submarket in unincorporated Dorchester County.

Summer Wind is located in an area of high growth at the intersection of two major thoroughfares, Highway 17A and Dorchester Road. Its location provides a Lowcountry neighborhood setting with convenient access to Summerville shopping and entertainment, some of the area’s top schools and employers such as Volvo, Boeing, Bosch, Mercedes and Joint Base Charleston. Studio, one, two, and three bedroom units will be available in three story buildings surrounding the landscaped pool and a one-acre park.

According to Beach Company Development Manager Alan McMahon, “The increasing demand for modern, reasonably priced apartment homes positions the project as one of the area’s premier multifamily developments.”

Summer Wind will be pet friendly and offer first class amenities such as a resident clubroom and adjoining lounge, 24/7 cardio and free weight fitness center, expansive pool and leisure deck, dog park, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, car wash, and detached garages. In addition, Summer Wind will be a “Ten Gig” community, offering 10 gigabytes of symmetrical internet/data service through an agreement with Home Telecom. Unit interiors will feature granite counter tops, wood inspired plank flooring, oversized closets, and washers and dryers in all units.  Onsite management will be provided by the Property Management Division of The Beach Company.

The consultant team at Summer Wind includes JHP Architecture, Seamon Whiteside and Associates, Builders Design Interiors and Terracon Consultants. The contractors are Balfour Beatty Construction, Gulfstream Construction and James White Construction. Pinnacle Bank is providing construction financing.
