Biscuit HeadBiscuit Head, a traditional southern restaurant with a twist, will be the first new retailer to open at the new South Ridge development, a 350-unit mixed-used apartment community in Downtown Greenville, SC developed by South Ridge Investment, LLC, an affiliate of The Beach Company.

In addition to their signature cat-head biscuits, the restaurant specializes in homemade gravies, jams and hot sauces. Along with many other accolades, Food & Wine magazine recognized Biscuit Head in as one of the best places for biscuits in America. With two successful locations in Asheville, the corner of Church and University Ridge location will mark Biscuit Head’s debut in Greenville.

Owners Jason and Carolyn Roy opened their first Biscuit Head restaurant in West Asheville in May 2013 and plan for continued growth. The Roys decided to venture into the Greenville market due to the proximity to their home in Asheville, the vibrant downtown scene and the city’s genuine Southern charm.

“The vibe of the city fits in with our vibe,” Jason Roy said, “which is a little more eclectic than your typical breakfast place.” Biscuit Head provides a comfortable, interactive atmosphere for patrons with a jam and jelly bar and bacon of the day.

The company strives to be as eco-friendly as possible by making everything either compostable or recyclable. The Roys plan on working closely with local farmers, artisans, coffee makers and other businesses to reduce their carbon footprint.

“We are entertainers at heart and we love making people happy and putting a smile on their faces,” Jason Roy said. “We want to provide a charming place to go with food that’s nostalgic, but new.”

The South Ridge development is a short walk to downtown, Cleveland Park and the Augusta Road neighborhoods. Because of this, the Roys’ were drawn to the location and have experienced the convenience and sense of community firsthand.

“We like the idea of creating a gathering spot at the center of all of these special places in Greenville. We want to help people feel like they’re coming home and we want to be a part of that experience,” Jason Roy said.

Biscuit Head restaurant will open in early 2016 and South Ridge apartments will welcome their first residents in March 2015.
