KAREN K. BACOT
With more than 25 years of experience as a Marketing Executive, Karen Bacot has directed global marketing operations for three luxury resort developments. Her responsibilities included building successful luxury brands, planning multinational marketing and public relations strategies, and marketing operations.
Karen Bacot grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University. She gained both corporate communications and advertising agency experience in Charlotte, NC, on various retail, hospitality, and financial services accounts.
After relocating to Charleston, SC, in 1992 she joined Kiawah Development Partners serving as Creative Director and Director of Marketing over an era of 15 years. Bacot was honored with American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award in 2008, for outstanding contributions to advertising, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern, and has earned over 50 industry awards including eight ADDY “Best of Show,” and numerous AIGA, Ozzie, HOWIE, and PICA winners.
Karen Bacot relocated to Greenville, SC in 2008 where she served as Marketing Communications Manager for SYNNEX Corporation, a Fortune 500 technology distributor. In 2012 she wrote and published the coffee table book, “A Bird’s Eye View of Kiawah.” She returned to Charleston to join The Beach Company in 2013 because, in her words, “The Beach Company’s values align with my own – progressive thinking, practical and quality-minded.”
