New York Times bestselling author, Dan Schawbel

The Beach Company team members gathered for the corporate staff meeting on September 15, 2017 to hear updates from president and CEO, John Darby, and a presentation on Workplace Trends from guest speaker, Dan Schawbel.

Schawbel is a New York Times bestselling author, serial entrepreneur, Fortune 500 consultant, Millennial TV personality, global keynote speaker and workplace expert.

Schawbel said that diversity and long-term retention of employees speaks to the company’s commitment to employee satisfaction. The Beach Company continues to seek opportunities to grow with the changing workplace culture.

While the presentation gave a perspective on how companies and office spaces may evolve through the next few years as technology and other factors will shape the workplace, Schawbel says that workers from different generations have more in common than you may think.

Schawbel cites statistics from a Strategy and Business article:

  • “For Boomers, the most important things they look for in a job are meaningful work (60%) and location (57%).”
  • “Millennial employees have about the same level of organizational commitment as boomers and Gen Xers.”
  • “The key is to separate myth from fact, and focus on creating an organizational culture that supports all employees regardless of when they were born.”

Schawbel is a trusted resource for workplace and career topics, and has appeared on “The Today Show,” Wired Magazine, NPR, The New York Times, and more. He has published two books: Promote Yourself and Me 2.0, with research from over 40 studies, interviews with over 1,700 professionals, and over 2,000 articles worth of writing.
