The Beach Company recognizes the 6-month anniversary of the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, and announces their partnership with The Combatting Antisemitism Fund to combat hate in all of its forms. A significant charitable donation was made to the nonprofit to support the establishment of the new fund and mission.
“We recognize the impact of the attacks on October 7 and growing threats across our state and country,” says John Darby, CEO and President of The Beach Company. “We stand with and support the Jewish Community and support the mission of The Combatting Hate Fund.”
The fund will support the implementation of active and impactful programming to combat antisemitism and hate in our region.
Supported programs include the Secure Community Network security initiative, the REMEMBER Program for Holocaust Education and Genocide Awareness, antisemitism and antibias training, led by the Charleston Jewish Federation.
“We are excited and honored to know that The Beach Company is joining in the fight to stop antisemitism and all forms of hate,” says Phyllis Martin, Executive Director Jewish Endowment Foundation of South Carolina. “Their generous donation provides the seed money needed to support the implementation of active and impactful programming and strategies to combat antisemitism and hate. Our goal is to support cross-community solidarity and collective action to counter and stop the spread of hate.”
Antisemitism has been on the rise since the 2017 white supremist rally that took place in Charlottesville, VA, and 900 Jewish institutions received bomb threats in 2023 alone. With 30 hate groups in SC, the new fund and Jewish Community is focused on demonstrating that hate has no safe harbor in South Carolina. The Combatting Antisemitism Fund was facilitated with help by the Coastal Community Foundation.
