Isle of Palms

ISLE OF PALMS, SC– The Beach Company was established with the purchase of Isle of Palms for $120,000 in 1945 by its founder, JC Long. It was South Carolina’s largest and most expensive land transaction at the time. The Company initially built residential homes to provide low-cost housing to veterans returning from World War II. It later developed commercial spaces and amenities, including the infamous Isle of Palms Pier and later established Wild Dunes Resort, to create a modern beachfront town for its locals to enjoy. The Company continues to own and manage many neighborhood essentials today, like the island’s only grocery center, the federal post office, gas stations, and several retail strip centers. Due to The Beach Company’s vision, what was once a sparsely inhabited island was turned into a vibrant coastal community, and today, it is a thriving destination featuring luxury homes, vacation rentals and recreational facilities that attract visitors and residents annually.
