Mary Caneer joined The Beach Company in 2023, bringing with her 25 years of commercial real estate industry experience. Mary is a hands-on leader with a focus on strategic planning and execution, business transformation and driving complex collaborative initiatives. In her new role as Vice President, Controller, and Treasurer, she is overseeing all aspects of accounting for The Beach Company and its related entities, including corporate, fund, and property management financial reporting to all internal and external stakeholders.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Mary earned her bachelor’s degree as well as her master’s in accounting from Wake Forest University. She began her career with Ernst & Young in Atlanta, serving clients in the real estate and hospitality industries. Throughout her career prior to joining The Beach Company, Mary held various senior management positions within the accounting and finance divisions of three publicly traded real estate investment trusts, a family office/developer, a single-family rental portfolio and an institutional real estate fund manager.

Mary is passionate about education for youth, equal opportunity and community reinvestment and serves on the board of Global Village Project, a middle school for refugee girls, where she chairs the finance committee.
